Finishes
All timber windows and doors have the option of being painted, stained or oiled in our factory before delivery. This has some benefits to the customer. These include making sure all timber surfaces are sealed before hardware is installed or glazing takes place, as well being economically viable (no cost of painter at the end of project), your joinery will be sealed from the weather before it arrives on site.
Our standard finish for most joinery is with a choice of Sikkens products. This is a top quality product available in both oil and water based. We recommend one of these products for the exterior of the windows at least. It is a three-coat system applied by spray unit.
For paint finish we recommend a water based enamel paint. This is generally applied in the same fashion.
Interiors of joinery obviously have the option of being finished in the same product as the exterior, however for those wanting a more natural timber finish we use Organoil Danish oil.
Exterior oils are available. Although these require more regular maintenance, they should not be over looked as they are far easier to apply than paints or stains and generally have the benefit of being more enviromentaly friendly and a more natural appearance.
